What we are working on, as we work on it.

CALL A REAL COMMODORE BBS FROM YOUR BROWSER Go to bbs.comm-adore.com on your computer or your phone and you're connected to the Comm-Adore BBS, a real Commodore bulletin board running Color 64. No terminal program, no modem, nothing to install. A chalkboard beside the screen follows you around the whole board and tells you what to do at every prompt, from logging on to posting your first message. Here's how to call, and how it works under the hood. COLOR 64 AT 9600, THE SECOND LOOK Before the Color 64 7.40 mod goes out, we went back over the UP9600 driver line by line and then let the tests run all night. Here is what the review found, what the tests found, why each one mattered, and what changed. WHAT'S NEW ON THE COMM-ADORE BBS The Comm-Adore BBS is open. Call adorebbs.ddnsgeek.com port 6400 for a new login screen, a games menu with fifty-three games on four pages, welcome screens that follow the calendar and a pile of fixes. Updated October 21 with the story of the first upload, the night it took the board down, and the fix. COLOR 64 BBS AT 9600 BAUD Color 64, one of the great Commodore 64 bulletin board programs, was stuck at 2400 baud. Comm-Adore's Color 64 7.40 adds Daniel Dallmann's UP9600 interface and runs at 9600. Updated October 19: the board has run it for days, callers at 2400 and 4800 work now too, and it looks stable. The mod is still coming. RED SQUAD: RECRUIT. EVERY PILOT STARTS SOMEWHERE A new Commodore 64 game is on the workbench, and it puts you in the cockpit. Pick a call sign, listen to your instructor, and try to land ten hits on his fighter before he lands five on you. The first game in a series. YOU CAN MAKE A COMM-ADORE ACCOUNT NOW Anyone can sign up for a free Comm-Adore account. Members get first access to new games and products, and it keeps your SID tunes and shop orders. PLAY YOUR OWN SIDS ON THE JUKEBOX Drag your own SID files onto the jukebox and they play at once, with the chip's three voices on screen. Log in and it keeps them for you. JOIN THE I ADORE MY COMMODORE CLUB Our new members' club. A monthly Commodore newsletter, members' prices in the shop, apps and games we make only for members, and a pin and tee you can't buy anywhere. From $5.99 a month. RED LEADER: FLY IT TODAY, ON THE PC Red Leader, our new arcade shooter for the Commodore 64, is on the PC too, and you can play it right now. All six stages, free, in your web browser. SHACK ATTACK ON THE 64: FORTY SHOPPERS AND ONE JOYSTICK Shack Attack is being built for the Commodore 64, and all ten days can be played, from Black Friday's 5 AM doorbusters to Christmas Eve. Here's how a parking lot full of shoppers fits into a 64. RED LEADER: FOUR WORLDS AND A FORTRESS ON EACH A new arcade shooter for the Commodore 64 is on the workbench. One fighter flying up the screen over sand, snow, forest and a city in the clouds, with a fortress to break at the end of each. Coming soon. SHACK ATTACK: THE SHOPPERS ARE COMING A new game from Comm-Adore. Black Friday, 1985: you work at the electronics store by the mall, and the whole town wants in. Free to play in your web browser today, and coming soon for the Commodore 64. ASTEROID BASE DEFENSE IS READY Our first finished game for the Commodore 64 is out. Asteroids, comets and a boss every wave are coming for your three cities. $4.99 to download, and the PC version is free to try in your browser. A COMM-ADORE CHRISTMAS IS HERE Our free Christmas demo for the Commodore 64. Wind, snow on the logo, and fifteen carols with a picture each. Download it and leave it running all season. BECOME A HAZELWOOD FOUNDER The Founder's Edition is open. Play Hazelwood before anyone else, help us finish it, and have your name carved on the Founders' Shrine in the finished game. TWO HARDWARE IDEAS: AN HDMI DONGLE AND A 64D Plug-and-play HDMI for every Commodore, and a C64 in a 128D-style case with the ports on the front. Ideas for now, with plans started. HYPERCART: THE FAST STUFF, IN ONE CARTRIDGE A hardware project on the bench: one cartridge that does the jobs of a RAM disk, a RAM expansion and a turbo card, built around a Raspberry Pi. The first boards are designed. HAZELWOOD, IN BLOCKS Hazelwood is coming to the PC and the web browser too: the same realm, story and people as the 64 game, in 3D blocks, and with a friend. THE JUKEBOX IS OPEN SID tunes, played in your browser by a cycle-exact emulation of the chip, with the voices drawn on screen as they play. HAZELWOOD: ALL EIGHT SANCTUARIES ARE BUILT Eight regions, eight sanctuaries, the road north and the Blackspire at the end. Hazelwood can be played from the first screen to the last, and the playtest has begun. A LOGO WITH HEART Comm-Adore has a logo. The O in Adore is a heart in the stripes of the old Commodore badge, and the letters are the 64's own light blue. ON THE WHITEBOARD The game ideas waiting their turn: two sports games where practice is the game, and a collection of side quests set in the 80s movies we grew up on. REBELLION, AND THE ARCADE KIT UNDER IT Our second game is the opposite of Hazelwood: a fast side-scrolling shooter in the spirit of Defender. First we built the arcade kit it stands on. HAZELWOOD NEEDS NOTHING BUT A 64 Hazelwood was going to need a RAM expansion. Now it doesn't. Any Commodore 64, PAL or NTSC, with a disk drive or an SD card, will run it. HAZELWOOD: THE FIRST SWING OF THE SWORD Work starts on Hazelwood, an action adventure for the Commodore 64 with Zelda's sword and Ultima's conversations. Day one: an engine, combat, a hero and a prologue. THE WORKBENCH IS OPEN Before the games, the tools. We set up a proper Commodore workbench for the C64, VIC-20, C128 and Plus/4, and the first thing on it was an old Christmas demo.
